Something lovely, before you go looking
The top of Keepsakes changes on its own. When something happened on this date in an earlier year, the page opens with it — “3 memories from 2 years ago” and a few little thumbnails to tap through to. A video lends its still frame; a voice memory quietly sits that one out rather than showing a blank square.
Nothing from today? Then the card looks forward instead: the next first worth watching for and roughly when it usually happens — “Often around 7 months” — and one tap opens the whole milestone list. And if a birthday isn't saved yet, it gently asks for that first, because nothing can be suggested without it. There is always something there, and it's never a filler.
Nothing below it is padded out either. The favorites row simply isn't there until you've hearted something, and a family with nothing yet gets one gentle line rather than five empty boxes: “Your keepsakes live here.”

Shelves that make their own covers
Gather moments that belong together into “Holidays” or “Grandma's”. They sit two across as square tiles, each with a cover and a moment count. You never pick the cover: an album borrows the first photo of the most recently added moment, so it looks like a photo shelf from the day you make it and quietly re-covers itself as it fills.
When you create one you say whose it is — a Family album (“Photos from everyone”) that can gather any child's moments, or one child's alone. So a holiday album holds both kids while “Mia's first year” stays hers. With one child there's no choice to make, so you're never asked.
- One moment can live in as many albums as you like — no copies, no duplicates
- Open a moment, tap “Add to album”, and tick every album it belongs in; untick to take it back out
- Name a brand-new album right there and the moment goes straight into it
- Inside, an album reads like the timeline — newest first, tap through to the full moment
- Deleting one removes the album only: “your moments stay safe in your timeline”
The things they said, kept like photographs
Somewhere around two, they start saying things you promise yourself you'll never forget — and then you do. The Jar is where those go: “Every funny, tender thing they've said.” Each one gets a big card of its own with no picture on it, a small gold quote mark, and the words in warm italics with room to breathe. They're deliberately bigger and quieter than photo cards, because here the words are the whole point.
The most recent one sits in full on the Keepsakes page, so the last funny thing they said greets you when you open the tab. If the jar is still empty, the prompt takes you straight to the quick capture with the caption already relabelled “Their exact words” and asking “What did they just say?”

- Open the Jar from the family view and every child’s sayings sit together
- Each quote is signed with their face, their name and the day
- Open it for one child and you read only theirs
- They still live in your timeline too — the Jar is just where they aren’t buried between pictures

Every journal keeps its own shelf
The name at the top of Keepsakes is the journal switcher itself. Albums, favorites and The Jar belong to the journal you're standing in, so the one you share with grandparents has its own shelf — separate from the private one, with no chance of the wrong thing showing up on the wrong page.
Counts and covers follow the same rule. An album only tallies and only shows the moments you're allowed to see, so sharing an album with grandparents never quietly hints that there are others. And someone invited to look rather than add simply doesn't get the buttons — no dead ends, no disappointment.
Albums, favorites and The Jar follow the journal you're in.
A vocabulary the whole family shares
Tags belong to the family, not to one child — agreed once, used by everyone, and impossible to accidentally duplicate.
Fourteen, already there
Every family starts with First steps, First words, Bath time, Mealtime, Nap, Playtime, Outdoors, Park, Grandparents, Holiday, Birthday, Funny, Cuddles and Doctor — each already coloured and iconed, and each translated, so a German family reads them in German.
Eight colours, fifty-one icons
Adding one of your own, in Settings, opens a sheet with a name, the eight soft colours and the full icon grid — a footprint, a bath drop, a birthday gift — with a live preview of the finished pill at the top so you see exactly how it will look before you save.
Tap a tag, pull the thread
Tags show as little coloured pills on a moment's detail page. Tap one and you get a screen titled #Park with every moment of the child you're viewing that carries it, newest first, loading more as you scroll.
Tapping, not typing
While you're saving a moment you pick tags from your family's list rather than typing free text. A filter box narrows it down, the alphabetical order never jumps under your finger, and a moment can carry up to twenty.
Narrow the timeline
The timeline's filter sheet offers your tags alongside the child picker and a milestones-only switch — several at once, with each active choice sitting above the feed as a pill you can drop with one tap.
It stays tidy for years
“Park”, “park” and “ Park ” are all the same tag, so the list can't fill with typo'd twins. In Settings every tag shows how many moments use it, and whoever runs the family can rename their own tags, restyle any of them, or merge two together — “Every moment tagged 'Pram' will move to 'Buggy', and 'Pram' will be removed.” Removing a tag only removes the label; the moments stay.
